I liked the previous version. With the update the app is offering unwanted suggestions. The app seems to move slower and it no longer works without a cell/ wifi connection.

There are many apps that sound good but are so disappointing you just delete almost right away. This was not one of those. It is terrific. It always works well and the basic idea is enormously helpful, i.e.,encouragement to eat good natural foods. It is very attractively presented with important nutrition data calculated. Good range of foods represented but would always appreciate getting more added to the data base. Very pleased indeed to have found this.
This used to be my favorite app but the newest version seems to make it impossible to add a food without upgrading to pro. Its basically useless now. Id be happy to pay a one time fee but the subscription structure seems prohibitive. I hope its an issue that gets fixed because its so great to have an app that focuses on whole good and nutrition, rather than weight loss. I emailed support about the issue and never heard back. I also noticed that this review and another negative one disappeared after a few days. Hmm.
This app does everything it should.
Ok, I havent been able to add or track nutrients with specific foods since app was updated last week. I emailed support twice before getting a reply and they clarified that this feature is now only with pro, which is subscription based. It used to be free. Its a great app and I understand the need to pay for services. My feedback would be that a one time fee for a basic version where you can still use the food diary and nutrient tracking functions would feel a lot more affordable than paying monthly forever. For those of us loyal users that had more functionality previously, it would have been courteous to at least inform us that features were going to be taken away. I may upgrade to pro but am hesitant due to the lack of communication and customer support. The customer service side of the app could use some work. The email I received said it was only a two person team maintaining the app but if they want to be in business, good customer service is pretty crucial.
Wholesome has nearly everything one might want in a macro and micro nutrient tracker. The ability to adjust desired intake levels of each nutrient allows for a very clear picture of consumption and the flexibility to add both recipes and specific foods means with minimal effort, ones culinary repertoire can be tracked. Thus far, the only thing lacking is a barcode reader option, yet the labels are not as comprehensive in terms of micronutrients reported as this app is capable of quantifying, which encourages whole food consumption over packaged options. Kudos to team Wholesome for making it subtly easier to choose a healthier lifestyle! The bonus information on many individual foods and nutrients is interesting and a pleasure to peruse. Plus, the customer support is rapidly responsive, courteous, and helpful. Best app, without question!
Feeling so good about my food choices!! Most logical way to track your health.
Awesome app for people trying to track their daily nutrition
I loved this app SO much before they updated it. The tracking is easy and very customizable. Unfortunately the update made everything go haywire. After weeks with no update from the developers, I finally figured out the update defaulted the sugars to -1g. I altered the sugar goal to the previous default of 90g and everything seems to work now.
This app has sure helped me stay on track with eating mostly whole foods while giving me much valuable information on each one.
Unfortunately it does consistently update ios health app. This is a serious flaw. Additionally, some of the nutrient calculations may be off. In particular the vitamin b12. Having paid for pro and not having full functionality is not optimum. It it is fixed soon I will keep it, otherwise a refund is in order.
I like the concept and read good reviews, so I bought it. I am now not so sure it was a good idea. It is slow to process data, its not user friendly entering new data, it gets stuck all the time, it does it work offline at all which means you can record things if you are out of reach of wifi or G3 etc. I expected something like the my fitness pal for food with better data, but the user interface is light years behind. In addition it makes no nutritional distinction between complex and simple carbs, which frankly is pretty basic if you know anything about nutrition. Now there are some minor irritants that I can live with, like the fact that it has no option for gluten free, or vegan (only vegetarian), and nothing for food allergies. As I said, if all the other things worked I could live the aforementioned oversights. Basically using the app takes a huge amount of time because the interface is so slow and I user friendly. The concept is good, but I would read a good nutrition book for now and wait until they make far more user oriented before buying it. The free version is not worth the time it takes to download.
Its had a few issues in the past, but the developers have always been friendly and fixed whatever if experienced. It works really well and is helping me perfect my diet. Well worth the money for a healthier life :)
Thanks to all who worked to make this app so easy to use and so complete. My trainer recommended it and Im glad. Its awesome!
Im eating more whole / paleo foods, and I wanted to track the vitamins and minerals moreso than calories and macronutrients, so I tried this app as an alternative to a tracker I had been using. This app has a great idea behind it. I like visually seeing which foods Ive eaten (photos) because it encourages me to keep eating a variety of whole foods, and the vitamin and mineral tracker is encouraging as well. A few comments / recommendations: 1) The app is slow to load each page. 2) You also cant refresh pages. I have to flip to yesterday and back to today to see a change I made (e.g. if I want to make sure a delete went through). 3) Let there be a setting where we can choose which categories to keep collapsed/minimized in the Nutrition Tracker. Its great that a lot of nutrients can be used, but the information would be more useful if the app would remember which ones Im focusing on and which ones I dont want to see regularly. 4) I cant edit the foods Ive eaten; I can only delete and re-add them. For example, if I eat an apple in the morning and then have a second one that afternoon, I cant edit the quantity of apples Ive eaten that day. 5) I have only added one food to My Foods so far, but it is not showing up in the User Foods section. Why not? For the premium app price of $30 a year ongoing fee (or a smaller monthly fee), this needs better execution.
I love this app. Great for us. I track my food and I think its awesome for any special diets such as insuring adequate nutrition intake through pregnancy or vegetarian diets. Works great for my toddler too. With multiple users it is possible, but a bit of a pain switching back in forth. Have to re-enter my weight height age then when I log my sons food change it all, over and over. It is worth it for the knowledge I am gaining about how to have a balanced diet for us. This app has improved our eating habits by filling in nutritional gaps and subsequently improving our lives. Thank you!!
Firstly, it would be great to be able to have more diverse profiles, specifically for vegan diets or those with allergies. Additionally, I think user input of foods could benefit from input of ingredients as well as nutrition facts. As a rough guide to my nutrition, I feel that using this app allows me to be more aware of my eating habits but I dont specifically trust the estimates of nutritional goals, though perhaps that is not exactly the point.
I like this tracks nutrition and I like the part that tells me what to eat next to fulfill my daily needs. It would be helpful if it had a scanner option for processed foods. We eat pretty clean but who doesnt eat junk every once in awhile. But I love all the info on REAL food! Its awesome and helps eating clean so much easier! The $30 is a bit steep, but Ill pay the Price for the work thats been done. Good job gang!
This app used to be a pretty good nutrition tracker. Now it does nothing unless you pay their subscription service. Unless youre willing to pay five dollars a month, the app is completely useless. Honestly, all of the features are behind the pay way. It should be in the paid category
Im enjoying using this app. Seems to have most foods I eat and breaks them down in an informative fashion.
