Pros and cons of Wholesome - Healthy eating app for iPhone and iPad
Wholesome - Healthy eating app good for
Exactly what I was looking for. Easy to customize, add goals and new items. Thank you!
The most aesthetic/detailed nutrition tracker I know about. Functionality has improved over time. Looking forward to a vegan user profile option!
Im transitioning to a vegan diet, and wished there was an app similar to the USDA websites "super tracker" so that I could track my nutrient intake. Ive used MyFitnessPal, but that app is more useful for weight loss and calorie counting, not nutrient tracking.
Wholesome is very whole foods focused, and the colorful pictures encourage me to eat more whole foods rather than processed ones; though the processed foods are also available if you use the search bar.
My favorite part is the "tips" tab on all the whole foods, including pesticide risk, how to store it, how to eat it, health benefits, and more.
Love the focus on health over calorie counting. Ive tried every app and this is by far the best one with the most comprehensive information. Definitely worth every penny for the pro tracking features.
Fantastic App. Loads of great information. Lost a star as I believe the UI (User Interface) could be a lot more user friendly. I personally prefer a more clean design. Great job
This app is fantastic. Its so interesting to look up a food that you eat all the time, for example a cucumber, and find out what nutrients are in it. Im always surprised with what I find. I love the feature that allows you to tap a nutrient and the app tells you what benefits it has. I love it!
Some bad moments
This use to be a great free app that offered nutritional info along with tips. But they have since become greedy and expect users to pay for something that once was free and remains easily accessible on the internet. Definitely not worth the fee of $2.99 a month theyre trying to extort. Do yourself a favor a download the Google app instead.
What a huge disappointment. Dont buy this app. It is still in beta stage with a gazillion problems. It should be free not $3.99!!
Im not going to be using this app anymore. Not when there are so many apps that do basically the same thing for free, or at least a one time payment. $5 is not worth it to simply keep track of calories and nutrients.
Additionally health it syncing no longer works properly. All vitamins sync as 0 even though in the app they appear correctly.
****Original review***
I rarely write reviews because so few apps meet my expectations. For those who are truly health conscious tracking calories or fat is secondary to measuring our daily intake of many essential vitamins and minerals. This app empowers me to view a break down of everything I eat with scientific precision. Its also free and works great with Apple health.
The keyboard is in the way of the done button to make an account
This app is not user friendly at all. I was looking for something easy to use that wouldnt consume too much of my time. This is not it.
As of right now the settings on the "make an account" page dont allow my "old" iPhone 4s to finish creating a required account because after I finish filling out the boxes my keyboard gets stuck over the "done" button. I cant even move the page up or down to get to the "done" button or hide my keyboard. Im sure this was made perfectly for iPhone 5 and newer. However, this renders the app entirely useless to me as its required to make an account. Please fix it for my "ancient" iPhone 4s and for every iPhone 4 that would like to use this potentially useful app. As for now, I shall delete wholesome and hope for an update.
